AIRPORTS:

The nearest international airports are Bristol (Ryanair and EasyJet) and Exeter (Flybe). If you can’t find flights to these airports, Heathrow is probably the easiest major airport to arrive at.

How to Arrive

Other possibilities:
Luton, Stansted, Cardiff, Birmingham, Bournemouth – but please check with the school before you book so we can look at transfer possibilities.

Not Recommended:
Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester – These airports are too far from Torquay.

Using Bristol Airport   (89miles/ 143km)

Taxi – approx. £125 each way for up to 3 passengers (journey time 1.5 hours).

Train – connecting bus to Bristol Temple Meads train station, then train to Torquay.
Total from approx. £45 return (depending on travel time and booking date).

Using Exeter Airport   (25miles/ 40km)

Taxi – approx. £50 each way for up to 3 passengers (journey time 30 mins).

Using Heathrow Airport   (200miles/ 322km)

Taxi – approx. £225 each way for up to 3 passengers (journey time 3 hours).

National Express Coach – easy direct service approx. £55 – £75.
(depends on date of travel, and date of purchase) + £5 booking fee.

Using Gatwick Airport   (202miles/ 326km)

Taxi – approx. £240 each way for up to 3 passengers (journey time 3 hours)

National Express Coach – change at Heathrow Airport approx. £55 – £75
(depends on date of travel, and date of purchase) + £5 booking fee.

Train- Via Reading, or Central London

Using Stansted Airport   (259miles/ 417km)

Taxi – approx. £285 each way for up to 3 passengers (journey time 4.5 hours)

National Express Coach £65 – £85 (depends on date of travel, and date of purchase) + £5 booking fee.  Via Heathrow airport (see route map below).

Train- Via Central London

ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR TAXIS:

Please add £10 to above price if the driver is to meet the customer with a nameboard at arrivals.

Please add £20 if the passenger is an “unaccompanied minor” (total additional charge – includes being met with a nameboard at arrivals).

Driver waiting times due to delayed flights or delays coming through Customs&Immigration/Arrivals may be charged at £10 per hour additional waiting time.

There may be a small charge for multiple drop-off or pick-up points in Torquay (first address is included).

The customer will be given a telephone number for the taxi, which must be used in case of delays.

COACH TICKETS:

If you arrive at Heathrow Airport, taking a coach is the easiest, cheapest and most convenient way to arrive in Torquay. Over 95% of our adult students use this service.

There is a regular direct coach service from London Victoria and Heathrow Airport, or you can connect to/from Stansted, Gatwick and Luton Airports.

Book tickets on-line or the school can book coach tickets for you for a £5 booking fee. An adult return fare will depend on which airport is used, the date of booking (advanced bookings get a discount), and time of travel. To make an online booking yourself, visit National Express online

All coaches arrive at Torquay Coach Station and your host will meet you there.

TRAIN TICKETS:

London (Paddington Station) to Torquay

Journey time is about 3 hours. There are some direct trains, but one change may be necessary.

From Heathrow Airport take the “Rail-Air Link” bus to Reading Train Station, then train to Torquay. Journey time is about 3 hours. There are some direct trains, but one change may be necessary.

From Bristol to Torquay you will need to take an airport bus to Bristol Temple Meads Train Station, then on to Torquay. There are some direct trains, but one change may be necessary.
